BIOGRAPHY
For me Art is a passion and I consider myself a "pseudo-artist." It’s been several years that I’m dealing with synesthesia.
What is synesthesia? .. It’s the ability of association of the senses that we all have/we commonly have/ that are common to everyone. In some individuals this sensitivity is greater than others so we speak about synaesthetic ones which have increasing sensations, much more intense and enveloping, depending on the situation in which they find themselves: for instance, in a concert of classical music a synaesthete could see colors, feel, taste, or smell much deeply. My project and my art have a utopian nature with the intent to improve society and develop creativity (see my “Artistic Mental Gym” project on my website: www.giuliamartino.it).

My most important research-projects are: “5 CONTROSTAGIONI"; “EIGHT PRIMARY EMOTIONS”; “I PLAY”;
I’m currently conducting a study on the ‘’number 7’’. For this project I realized some videos, texts and drawings, involving writers, songwriters and other artists which took care of the lyrics and musics.
A video has participated to a contest “Show Visible White You See Me Personal Identities in the Digital Age Visible White Photo & Video Prize 2014”; instead the texts have entered a contest, won a selection and will be published by a publishing house as audio book and will be part of a big project I worked for years and I will need a very large space for the representation that also includes performances by the musical groups. Video on the Moon (the first of the seven planets of the Ptolemaic System) was selected for the Biennial of Rome. The mercury image with the processing of my texts written in Roman cursive writing of the II Sec. D.c. It was projected on a New York skyscraper.

L’Arte è una passione e mi considero una “pseudo-artista”. Da parecchi anni mi occupo di sinestesia.
Cos’è la sinestesia? .. è la capacità di associazione dei sensi che abbiamo un po’ tutti. In alcuni individui questa sensibilità è maggiore: si parla di individui sintetici che hanno sensazioni accentuate, molto più profonde e avvolgenti, a seconda della situazione in cui si trovano: in un concerto di musica classica ad esempio il sinesteta potrebbe vedere colori, sentire un gusto, o un profumo.
La mia arte è utopisticamente rivolta al miglioramento della società, allo sviluppo della creatività (vedi il progetto della Palestra Mentale Artistica sul mio sito www.giuliamartino.it) con l’ausilio della sinestesia. Le mie esposizioni sono quindi improntate principalmente sui sensi gusto, tatto, vista, udito.

Ad oggi sto facendo delle ricerche sul numero SETTE ed ho preparato alcuni video, testi e disegni. Per questo progetto questa volta ho coinvolto cantautori scrittori ed altri artisti che hanno scritto testi e musiche.
Un video (moon) ha partecipato ad un concorso/Mostra Visible White You See Me Personal Identities in the Digital Age Visible White Photo & Video Prize 2014. Lo stesso video sulla Luna (il primo dei sette pianeti del Sistema Tolemaico) è stato selezionato per la biennale di Roma. L’immagine di mercurio con la elaborazione dei miei testi scritti con scrittura Romana corsiva del II Sec. d.c. è stata proiettata su un grattacielo di New York.
Tra i numerosi premi, pubblicazioni su riviste d’arte e mostre hanno una rilevanza i seguenti: Premiata alla Biennale di ex libris Palladio 2012/ Mostra personale “le 5 Controstagioni” giugno 2013 presso la Galleria D'arte Busellato di Asiago/ 2013 Premio di Artista per la Pace presso la città di Monreale/Marzo 2014 Seminario Scientifico Brain Stalking presso la facoltà di Psicologia dell'Università La Sapienza di Roma, ho partecipato con un intervento sulla mia ricerca artistica sinestetica e sui quadri dipinti per AIPC – Associazione Italiana di Psicologia e Criminologia/ Mostra Visible White You See Me Personal Identities in the Digital Age Visible White Photo & Video Prize 2014 mi rende partecipe di 10 progetti su 256 selezionati per la mostra a Firenze/Partecipazione al progetto Time Square con esposizione di un’opera sul grattacielo di New York/ Premio Quadriennale Palma d'Oro per l'Arte - Principato di Monaco - Per l'impegno artistico e creativo promosso nel mondo dell'arte e della cultura contemporanea/Primo premio Concorso ex-Libris Palladio 2014 Vicenza con l'EX LIBRIS HANS HINTERHUBER/Premio Leonardo da Vinci 2015/ Biennale d’Arte di Roma 2015
